You do not need to own a boat to spend an evening on Biscayne Bay. A guided cruise can bring the shoreline, seabirds and skyline into a different view.

Pelican Island Skipper

The name on the hull caught our attention. The Greater Miami tourism bureau describes the Pelican Island Skipper as a 45-foot catamaran offering sunset, moonlight and group cruises from Pelican Harbor Marina.

That listing is a starting point, not a departure schedule. The Skipper also appears in Deering Estate programs farther south. Check the boarding location and the vessel for the specific outing you choose.

Start with Pelican Harbor

Pelican Harbor Marina is at 1275 NE 79th Street in Miami, near North Bay Village. Pelican Harbor Seabird Station lists two-hour guided bay cruises with birdwatching, provided binoculars and the option to bring snacks and beverages. Some departures use Pelican Harbor; others use Crandon Park Marina.

The Seabird Station also accepts inquiries for private cruises. Its current program pages do not identify the boat for every sailing, so we have not labelled every trip a Skipper cruise.

Before you reserve

  • Confirm the departure marina, boarding time and parking instructions on your ticket.
