A Christmas gift, a patient neighbor, and a plan to fish from shore.
Before you fish.
Start with three questions: which species, where you may fish, and which rules apply to your trip. A catch report does not answer all three.
Identify the species and check the date.
The archive records regional catches with their location, source and date. A fish appearing here does not mean it is biting beside North Bay Village today.
Confirm access before you go.
NBV Local has not yet verified a list of public shore-fishing spots on the three islands. Ask the property owner or site operator and check posted signs. A bay view, park or dock does not establish permission to fish.
Check the official rules for your trip.
Use FWC’s pages to check identification, seasons, sizes, limits and applicable licensing requirements. Rules can vary by species, location and date.

Snapper and jacks in Biscayne Bay: September 2015
Historical report from September 21, 2015. Captain Alex Genetau reported returning bait and an improved inshore mutton and mangrove snapper bite around Key Biscayne. His report also described yellow jacks in the 6–10 lb range, with barracuda and grouper among the catches. He described that period as a strong time for light-tackle fishing. These observations describe September 2015, not present-day conditions.
